This one-of-a-kind Robbins R.1CA pairs an Italian spruce soundboard with a striking set of Brazilian rosewood. Its contemporary visual identity was developed directly from the selected materials: sapphire-toned blue resin and ebony. Tyler Robbins explored several layouts before settling on an asymmetrical geometric composition that contrasts vivid blue accents with the natural warmth and movement of the rosewood. The design begins with a segmented rosette and continues through the fingerboard, back center inlay, and pickup-integrated end graft. Fine white linework connects the deep-blue resin elements, creating a precise architectural rhythm without overpowering the tonewoods. The headstock extends the same material contrast through a two-tone veneer combining ebony and Brazilian rosewood. Brazilian rosewood binding, a Florentine cutaway, and sculpted arm and rib bevels complete the instrument. Careful alignment between the body contours, linear inlays, and bevel geometry gives the guitar a unified modern character, while allowing the figure of the Brazilian rosewood to remain the visual foundation of the design.
