This Ryan Gerber 15+ combines an Alpine Moon spruce soundboard with master-grade Madagascar rosewood back and sides in Gerber’s contemporary 15+ platform. A Florentine cutaway provides upper-fret access, while a Manzer Wedge gives the body its distinctive asymmetric depth. The build also incorporates Gerber’s layered-rim construction, with the soundboard individually braced and voiced before the body was closed. Figured koa provides the central visual theme throughout the instrument. The binding flows into a carefully mitered koa end wedge, while a two-tone koa backstrip terminates in matching arrow-shaped details. The rosette is individually carved from koa, with fine satinwood lines separating the geometric pattern. Matching koa continues through the heel cap, rear headplate and logo, creating a consistent design against the pale Alpine spruce and dark Madagascar rosewood. The neck incorporates Gerber’s bird-beak headstock joint, a demanding construction detail that had become part of his standard approach by the time of this build. A figured koa rear headplate highlights the joint, while Madagascar rosewood selected to match the body is used for the fingerboard and bridge. The front headplate is also Madagascar rosewood, framed in koa and finished with a koa Gerber logo. Together with the Florentine cutaway and Manzer Wedge, these details give the guitar a refined contemporary character while allowing the natural materials to remain the focus.
