The 1933 OM-28 comes from the final full year of the original Orchestra Model era. The OM had begun in 1929, but Martin discontinued the designation in 1934 as the closely related 000 moved to a 14-fret body and eventually adopted a shorter scale. The 1933 OM-28 therefore represents the mature form of Martin’s long-scale, 14-fret Auditorium design. B&C pair moon-logged European red spruce with Brazilian rosewood, reproducing the herringbone Style 28 appointments, ebony components, wide vintage spacing and year-appropriate neck construction of the original period. The model is not built from a generic modern OM template: its structure and details are intended to correspond specifically to a 1933 reference. It has a custom hand-crafted tortoise small teardrop pick guard. The combination of the long OM scale and Brazilian rosewood gives the guitar depth and harmonic richness while retaining clear separation across the strings. B&C’s thin pure-nitro finish and traditional construction are intended to preserve a strong fundamental, fast response and the dry, focused midrange associated with exceptional early-1930s OMs.
