Created as a one-of-a-kind custom commission, this Gaiero OMC combines a European spruce top with figured Claro walnut back and sides in a Florentine-cutaway body. Built during the final period surrounding Mark Gaiero’s apprenticeship at the Somogyi workshop, the guitar was conceived as an evolution of his existing visual language rather than a repetition of an established design. Gaiero developed a new variation of his signature Micro Mosaic concept specifically for this instrument. The sides use a double-layer laminated construction, with Claro walnut on the exterior and black walnut on the interior. Flamed koa binding frames the body, complemented by yellow-dyed maple purfling and a Rocklite backstrip and end wedge. Granadillo is used for the fingerboard, bridge, and inset front headplate, with black Rocklite and red-dyed maple providing contrasting details. The new rosette retains the color vocabulary of Gaiero’s earlier Micro Mosaic work while introducing an entirely different geometric composition. Custom mosaic inlays continue the theme across the fingerboard, heel cap, and end wedge, creating a unified design from headstock to body. The walnut neck, EVO gold frets, 1 3/4-inch nut, and 2 1/4-inch saddle spacing complete the specification. As the build progressed, the neck and body were carefully fitted and the custom fingerboard inlay installed, bringing together the Florentine cutaway, figured Claro walnut, koa binding, and colorful geometric details into a distinctly individual Gaiero design.
