Handcrafted electrics & archtops with exceptional resonance and refined playability
Stephen Marchione began building instruments in 1990 after earning a degree in Music from Naropa University. He trained in electric-guitar construction at Pensa-Suhr Guitars under John Suhr and studied privately with New York violin makers Guy Rabut and Charles Rufino. In 1993, he established Marchione Guitars in New York City before relocating to his hometown of Houston, Texas, in 2001.
Working from his Texas studio, Marchione personally selects, re-saws, and air-dries his tonewoods before transforming them into entirely handmade instruments. His approach brings together American guitar making, European violin-making traditions, and his own experience as a player of jazz, blues, classical, and flamenco music.
Marchione’s work spans steel-string and Spanish-style acoustics, carved archtops, semi-hollows, solid-body electrics, and violins. Each instrument is individually built around an original design, with meticulous attention to resonance, tonal balance, ergonomic playability, and refined visual detail.
