Individually crafted steel-strings with tonal purity and responsiveness
T. Drew Heinonen is a solo luthier based in Grand Marais, Minnesota. After studying guitar construction and repair at Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, he spent nearly four and a half years at Bourgeois Guitars, contributing to approximately 1,500 instruments. He later worked alongside Jim Olson for the 2012 and 2013 build seasons, participating in every stage of more than 80 guitars.
Heinonen approaches every instrument as an individual, recognizing that each piece of wood differs in density, stiffness, appearance, and tonal potential. By carefully matching tonewoods, body design, and bracing to the player’s technique and preferences, he creates guitars intended to complement and inspire their owners.
His range includes OM, OM-Hybrid, SJ, Dreadnaught, and Parlor models, combining traditional acoustic designs with meticulous contemporary craftsmanship. Each guitar is individually configured and built with close attention to responsiveness, tonal purity, balance, and effortless playability.
